He Guoqiang, head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), made the remarks while visiting Liaoning's cities of Dalian, Yingkou, Panjin and Shenyang from April 13 to 17.

He inspected several old industrial facilities and factories and gave high praise to the efforts of provincial and local leaders to redevelop the area through structural and technological reforms.

China has been implementing strategies to rejuvenate old industrial bases and Liaoning should take the advantage of the opportunity to ramp up its economic restructuring, technological upgrading and industrial innovation, He said.

He also visited some of the province's newest tech-oriented companies and encouraged them to focus on emerging industries of strategic importance, improve independent innovation capability and shore up core competition capacity.
