Firemen help a trapped woman to safety as heavy rainfall hits Qinzhou, a city in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Wednesday.

In the autonomous region's southern area, the city of Qinzhou and the city of Beihai have experienced record-breaking torrential rains. In Qinzhou, the maximum rainfall reached 359.4 mm on Wednesday, exceeding the city's highest historical records of the past 62 years.

The heavy rain caused flooding and part of the city traffic is inundated. According to statistics from Guangxi Regional Department of Civil Affairs, by 5pm on Wednesday, the rain had affected 132,600 people and two were found dead.

Qinzhou has issued a red rainstorm alarm and initiated an emergency response plan to relieve the disaster. Heavy rainfall will strike southern Guangxi again in the following two days. [Photo/Xinhua]
