Power failure disrupts Beijing subway

BEIJING - A power failure disrupted transport services on a major subway line in Beijing during Monday rush hour, stranding thousands of commuters.

The disruption occurred at 6:11 pm from Sanyuanqiao to Shaoyaoju on Subway Line 10. Services were restored by 6: 37 pm, Beijing Subway operators said, adding that thousands of subway riders were affected.
The subway company said an investigation into the power outage was underway.
The disruption also affected Line 1 and Line 5, stranding commuters in other parts of the subway network.
Subway Line 10, once completed by the end of 2012, will be the second loop line in Beijing.
