ZHENGZHOU - One pupil was killed and 13 others injured when their van crashed into a bus Friday afternoon in Central China's Henan province, local education officials said.

A van with 14 pupils on board collided with a bus at around 1 pm Friday in Luyi county. One pupil died at the scene, according to the county's education bureau.

Among the 13 injured, two pupils were seriously hurt, but their injuries are not life-threatening, they said.

The pupils are from the county's Beiguan primary school, which is a public school with no school buses. The drivers of both the van and the bus are on the run, they said.

Police are looking into the accident and searching for the drivers.
