Toll rises to 9 after bus crashes off dam

CHANGSHA - Nine people died and 12 others were injured after a bus plunged into a reservoir in central China's Hunan Province Saturday, the local government said in a press release Monday.

Rescuers retrieved all nine bodies after two days of searching the reservoir and the 12 injured are out of danger.

The search and rescue operations ended Monday.

The bus plunged into the 20-meter deep Lishui River Reservoir in Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie City, at 9:40 am Saturday after colliding with a jeep.

Lishui River is a tributary of the Yangtze River, China's longest waterway.

The accident is under investigation.
