7 dead after bus plunges into ravine in SW China

NANNING - At least seven people were killed and 31 others injured after their vehicle ran off the road and into a ravine in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Thursday, police said.

A 19-seat shuttle bus carrying 38 people rolled into the 40-meter-deep ravine in Donglan County of Hechi City at about 9:35 a.m., said Qin Yongjun, a Guangxi police spokesman.

Many passengers were thrown out of the windows and suffered injuries.

Five people died at the scene and two died later in hospital. The injured, including seven people who were seriously hurt, were hospitalized.

Police are investigating the accident.
