Bus plunges into reservoir in Hunan, 5 dead

CHANGSHA: Five people were confirmed dead and two others were missing after a bus plunged into a reservoir Saturday in central China's Hunan Province, said the local government.

The accident occurred at around 9:40 a.m. when the bus carrying 17 people collided with a jeep and plunged 20 meters into the Lishuihe reservoir in Sangzhi County, said a spokesman with the county government.

Rescuers had recovered five bodies from the reservoir. Two people on the bus were still missing, said the spokesman.

Twelve people, including two on the jeep, were injured and being treated at hospital. They had been out of danger by 6 p.m., he said.

Rescuers were still searching for the two missing in the reservoir.
