BEIJING - Senior Chinese official Li Changchun has asked media workers to continue to cover quake relief and reconstruction.

Li made the remark during his meeting with heads of major state-run media organizations on Thursday.

China's journalists should continue to produce high-quality journalistic works to provide encouragement for the disaster relief work in quake-hit areas, said Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Li also praised media workers' coverage of the quake since May 12, saying that their work had won general acclaim in the international community.
