The National Aquatics Center, also known as the "Water Cube," is seen behind the wall of a temple built in Ming Dynasty in Beijing November 4, 2007. In order to preserve the temple built to worship a fairy in Chinese fables called Jade Maiden of Mountain Tai (Bixiayuanjun), the construction site of the National Stadium was moved about 100 meters northward from the one originally planned, according to Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage.
