Real estate giant to build intelligent industrial city

Shenzhen-based real estate giant China Vanke Co announced, on Thursday, it would build an intelligent industrial city in Beijing under the capital’s drive to construct a national technological innovation center.

Zhou Chu, marketing director of northern area of Vanke Beijing, said it would combine the development of industry, training of talents and construction of communities, as inspired by the Silicon Valley in the United States.

The company said the event conformed to the national strategy saying "develop the country through science and education".

The city will be located at the Technological Business District in Changping district of northern Beijing, which has been designed to be a cluster of scientific research and high-tech industry.

Intelligent healthcare, online education and scientific commerce industries will be stressed based on cooperation in technology transfer with innovative institutions, colleges and research centers, the company stated.

Different from traditional industrial parks, the intelligent city will adopt smart tools to better serve companies there, involving technical, management and industrial services, it said.

For example, tenants can book offices and pay for the rental on the online platform of Wstudio, a co-working space operator which will settle in the area.

Activities, such as photographic exhibition and yoga, will be held to enrich the life of office staff.

The population around the Technological Business District is about 122,400, which is expected to reach 200,000 by 2020, Vanke stated.

"The intelligent city will become a new landmark to link the past and future of Beijing, which is represented by high-tech industry," Zheng Xue, general manager of the design management center of Vanke Beijing, said.
