Inspur aims to increase overseas revenue

By MENG JING in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2016-11-15 21:22

Inspur Group Co Ltd is going to make further overseas investment as the Chinese server manufacturer giant steps up efforts to make 40 percent of its revenue generated by countries outside China by 2020.

Sun Pishu, chairman and chief executive of the Shandong-based firm, didn't reveal the exact value of the investment but said the company eyes the markets in the United States, Europe and countries along the "One Belt and One Road" initiative to grow its overseas business.

"We are ready to export the capability of building up big-data centers after years of experience gathered in China market," he said to a small group of reporters on Tuesday in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, where the third World Internet Conference is being held.

Globalization is one of Inspur's top priorities. About 20 percent of its revenue comes from overseas markets, said Sun. In the United States, Inspur has set up production lines and a research and development center to ensure local production.

"With more and more Chinese companies going global, we are expected to have more business outside the country," said the 54-year-old, adding the company has already teamed up with China's information security major Qihoo 360 Technology Co Ltd in overseas markets.

With the development of the internet, data has become an important powerhouse to drive economic development, Sun said. "The connection and application of a massive amount of data are becoming the foundation of how society works," he said, adding Inspur is keen on riding the data economy wave.
