DALIAN, Liaoning - China's new-generation training vessel was delivered on Sunday in the port city of Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province.

The ocean-going vessel, built with a 340 million yuan ($50 million) investment, is China's most advanced ship for cruise training.

COSCO Shipyard built the ship, named Yupeng, and delivered it to Dalian Maritime University as a commissioned training vessel.

The 200-meter long ship has a carrying load of 30,000 tons and can be used for training, scientific research and ocean shipping.

Founded in 1909, Dalian Maritime University is one of China's largest maritime universities. The school has already owned and operated an ocean-going training vessel, named Yukun, with more than a 10,000 deadweight tonnage.

At the ship's delivery, Gao Yongqiang, general manager of COSCO Shipyard, said that in building of Yupeng, the company had teamed up with Dalian Maritime University in ship design, manufacturing and equipment, for the first time.
