Looking from above, the maze will resemble the face of a tiger. It should be a big tourist attraction, the maze designer Liu Deming told Xinhua.

Liu, a professor from Harbin Institute of Technology, said farmers will first plant the corn and when the plants grow over a person's height engineers will mark out a tiger's face. Farmers then will cut the plants in accordance with the markings.

This year is the Year of Tiger, according to Chinese lunar calendar.

Liu said walking through the maze's 10,000-meter path would take around two hours. The maze, to be located in Lanxi county around one-hour drive from the provincial capital Harbin, is expected to be open to public in a few months, he said.

The corn maze is expected to provide local farmers with an extra source of income, the local government said.
