Major Chinese airlines will raise passenger fuel surcharges from Wednesday, Bloomberg reported, citing the National Business Daily.

Air China Ltd, China Southern Airlines Co and seven other Chinese carriers will take the move, Bloomberg said.

China Southern will charge 70 yuan for flights of more than 800 kilometers, up from the original 40 yuan, the National Business Daily cited a statement from China Southern.

The fee on shorter routes will rise to 40 yuan from 20 yuan, according to the report.

Air China, China Eastern Airlines Corp and other domestic airlines will charge the same amount, according to the newspaper.
