BEIJING - The after-tax prices of China's imported aviation kerosene reached 7,770 yuan ($1,217) per metric ton in August, or 110 yuan more per metric ton than in July, a month-on-month rise of 1.4 percent, according to data released Sept 21 by Xinhua08.

Xinhua08, which is run by Xinhua News Agency, publishes the data on China's imported aviation kerosene comprehensive price index in the latter half of each month.

An economic analyst for Xinhua attributed the price increase to rising crude oil prices in the world market and Singapore's rising aviation diesel offshore prices.

The economist added that the surge in after-tax prices of aviation kerosene in China was lower than the growth rate of crude oil in the international market thanks to the appreciation of China's currency, the yuan or RMB.

Data showed that spot oil prices of Brent oil surged to $112 per barrel in July, a month-on-month increase of 2.4 percent.

Meanwhile, Singapore's aviation kerosene offshore oil prices stood at $129 per barrel in July, an increase of 1.84 percent over the previous month.
