China's marine GDP rises 6% to over $1t

China saw its marine gross domestic product reach 9.9 trillion yuan ($1.4 trillion) last year, a year-on-year increase of 6.0 percent, with a growth rate 0.8 percentage point higher than that of the national GDP, the Ministry of Natural Resources said on Wednesday.
The marine sector accounted for 7.9 percent of the national GDP, an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the previous year.
The ministry also said the value added of the first industry of the ocean was 462.2 billion yuan, the value added of the second industry was 3.55 trillion yuan, and that of the third industry was 5.89 trillion yuan, accounting for 4.7 percent, 35.8 percent, and 59.5 percent of the total marine GDP, respectively.
