M. Amin Gouda, an international PhD student from Egypt in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation at Northeastern University, is collaborating with his academic supervisor, Wang Hong, to develop indoor virtual reality equipment for skiers.

He believes that indoor VR equipment will help skiers practice effectively indoors during bad weather.

Gouda came to China in 2013 on his father's advice, but he has had doubts about the decision. But the city's development in recent years changed his mind.

Liu Caiqun contributed to this story.
