In 1994, the Peking Opera The Sad Melody of the Emperor of Xi Xia Dynasty won four awards in the "Wenhua Grand Prize", and Chen Lincang, starring in the opera, won the "12th Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award" and became the first recipient of the honor in Gansu, adding a glorious page to the history of Chinese Peking Opera.
