Zhangye Danxia landform, or Zhangye Danxia, consists of "Rainbow Danxia" and "Ice Ditch Danxia". Only one word can describe its magnificence - breathtaking. Zhangye Danxia is a wonder of the great nature and an imposing and magnificent sight with peculiar shapes and gorgeous colors.

What distinguishes Zhangye Danxia from other Chinese Danxia sites is the extraordinariness, and more importantly, the colors. In an area of more than 10 sq km, there are a wide range of vibrant colors, red, yellow, orange, green, white, graphite, dark gray, and dark white, adding to the beauty of the mountains and ravines. With interlaced lines, diversified colors, and grand landscape, Zhangye Danxia is like a world of wonders.

Zhangye Danxia was ranked by Chinese National Geography as the sixth of the Top Seven Most Beautiful Danxia Landforms in China. It simply owes you with its striking forms, shapes, and colors, as a Chinese poet nicely puts it: "High-rising mountain peaks make the picturesque colorfulness." With such breathtaking beauty, it has earned a reputation as "God's Rainbow Terrace". Zhangye Danxia is larger in size than that of "Ghost City" in Dunhuang, along with rich forms, shapes, and colors. It is the most typical Danxia landform in the drought area in China.

In 2009, Zhangye Danxia was selected as "one of the most bizarre landforms in China" by Fotosay - National Geography Collections; and later in 2011, it was rated by the US National Geographic, a leading journal, as a "top 10 geographic wonders in the world".
