A fascination with Beijing that started over thirty years ago

Certainly as we approached the Capital I was looking out on scenes so different to my homeland. Technology appeared mostly intermediate and there were few cars on otherwise quiet tree-lined country roads. Beijing Railway Station was an introduction to China's population size for so many people emerged from that train making their way out through the exit passages into the vast station square.
