POWERCHINA Chairman Yan Zhiyong met with Nobuaki Kurumatani, chairman and CEO of Toshiba Corporation, during the first China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Forum in Beijing on Oct 26.

According to a strategic cooperation agreement signed during the forum, POWERCHINA will combine its global network, consulting experience and construction expertise with Toshiba's highly efficient power generation systems in order to seek business opportunities in the third-party market.

More than 1,500 participants from both countries were present at the forum.

Toshiba is a global innovator in advanced electronics while POWERCHINA is a world leader in power infrastructure construction, noted Yan Zhiyong.

He hopes their shared advantages can create more win-win situations in global production capacity.

According to Nobuaki Kurumatani, Toshiba is attaching great significance to its cooperation with POWERCHINA, an old partner who has accumulated substantial technology and experience in power generation, water supply and infrastructure construction.

He hopes the two parties can further strengthen and expand their cooperation in thermal power and new energy and make more contributions to sustainable development across the globe.

Over the past several years, POWERCHINA and Toshiba have been collaborating in the power generation sector, particularly hydropower projects, by exchanging construction information and launching joint projects in third-party markets, such as Southeast Asia and Africa.
