TOKYO -- A team of experts from Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) on Monday began a two-day reexamination at Tsuruga nuclear power plant operated by the Japan Atomic Power Co..

The reexamination came as the agency found a reactor there is above an active fault in last May.

The move followed that the power company said in a report last July that the No. 2 reactor at the plant is not located above an active fault, contradicting the NRA's assessment, reported Japan' s Kyodo News.

The checkup is not expected to affect the agency's stance that there is no possibility of the reactor resuming operation as the Japan Atomic Power's report had no new factors that might alter the NRA's opinion, according to the report.

In quake-prone Japan, nuclear power reactors and other important safety facilities are not permitted to be installed directly above active faults.
