PYONGYANG - The ruling party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has adopted a decision to grandly celebrate the country's 65th anniversary, the official news agency KCNA reported on Tuesday.

The decision, adopted Monday by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), called for splendidly and significantly organizing political events marking the 65th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK and the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (the Korean War), KCNA said.

According to the decision, the country was set to "resolutely foil all the hostile forces' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK by achieving proud victory in building an economic power and improving the people's living standard."

It stressed the need to continue launching satellites of Kwangmyongsong series and powerful long-range rockets, and called for "staging an all-out action of high intensity for reliably protecting the security and sovereignty of the country."

It also underscored the need to give further spurs to building a highly civilized socialist nation, including completing the preparations for the universal 12-year compulsory education within this year, and establishing a medical information service network and telemedicine system.

The DPRK was founded on Sep.9, 1948. The Korean War, which DPRK calls  as the Fatherland Liberation War, broke out in 1950 and came to a ceasefire on July 27, 1953 when the Armistice Agreement was signed. But the war is not officially over because no peace treaty has ever been signed.
