Adhering to the concept that if you "recycle every drop of water that you use, then no matter how much water you use, you will still have the same amount," Singapore has formed a "four taps" water source system.

The system includes seawater desalination, water renewal, domestic water collection and foreign water supply to build up Singapore's water hub. Water renewal and desalination are able to meet 30 percent and 10 percent of the per day national demand, respectively.

Dong Baotong, member of the Kunming municipal committee, secretary of the hi-tech zone Party working committee and head of the development zone's administrative committee, led a Kunming economic delegation to attend the Singapore International Water Week 2011. During the event, Dong was invited to participate in the Water Leaders Summit and various activities, including water fairs and visits to Singapore Hyflux Newater's plants and spring desalination plants. Meanwhile, he communicated in-depth with water industry leaders from Japan, Israel, the United States, Germany and Singapore, and learned about current water technology research and development, commercialization of technological achievements and equipment manufacturing.

He also made efforts to strengthen relations with Singapore's leading water technology companies and actively build a platform to develop more cooperation projects.
