Qingshui named a famous historic and culture village

Qingshui village in South China's Yunnan province was recognized as a "Famous Chinese Historic and Culture Village," according to the sixth batch selected by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Yunnan Daily reported on April 9.

Located in the dry-hot valley of Jinsha River, Qingshui village was a fortress on the ancient Southern Silk Road, which passed across what is now Sichuan province, Yunnan province and the Tibet autonomous region.

Time-honored charm, rich culture and pleasant environment have won Qingshui village various titles such as "Top Village of Lijiang" and "Enduring Ancient Border Village in China"-Qingshui village was built by the soldiers guarding the border.

Qingshui village is also renowned for its well-preserved architectural complex from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is called “the museum of Ming and Qing dynasties architecture”.

The village is among the four villages in Yunnan province and the first in Lijiang city to make the list of Famous Chinese Historic and Culture Villages this year, after it was honored as a “Chinese Traditional Culture Village,” another state-level title.

It was reported that the selection was based on the plan of "Famous Chinese Historic and Culture Village" and had gone through a number of nominations and expert evaluations. Since the first batch was published in October 2003, nine villages in Yunnan province were awarded with the honor.
