Due to the relatively warm winter this year, the 14th Chinese Plum Blossom & Wintersweet Exhibition is set to open early on Dec 25, 2013. A total of 55 exhibitors from Yunnan province and nearby regions will gather at Heilongtan (Black Dragon Pool) Park in Kunming.

The park hast hosted the exhibition two times in the past, in 1995 and 2003. This is the third time. The 14th exhibition will set many records for the event, including the number of participant cities and the quantity of plum blossom and wintersweet varieties. This will be the earliest flowering phase the event has ever seen. It will also feature the longest exhibition period.

In order to hold the exhibition successfully, the Kunming city government has invested tens of millions of yuan in reconstructing and beautifying the park. A large indoor exhibition hall and a large bonsai garden were recently finished. A plantain landscape river system has also been constructed.

The organizing committee has also launched a special December offer activity. In December, exhibition tickets will cost 16 yuan ($2.64) instead of 20 yuan. Besides the eight parks, Kunming Zoo, Grand View Park, Golden Temple Park, Xihua Park, Tanhua Temple Park, Country Park, Green Lake Park and Black Dragon Pool Park, people can also buy tickets from 100 new newsstand outlets. The organizer has also launched a home delivery service for people who buy more than three tickets. People who buy more than 500 tickets can also enjoy a 12-yuan discount per ticket.
