The Urumqi Botanical Garden began offering free chrysanthemums to visiting tourists on Oct 16.

As of 6 pm on Oct 16, the garden had handed out more than 15,000 pots.
Chrysanthemums of every variety were placed at the exit of the garden. Tourists could receive a free one with the help of staff.
Li Jinbao, a publicity officer for the Urumqi Botanical Garden, said that the Chrysanthemum Exhibition is an annual traditional for the garden. The 22nd Chrysanthemum Exhibition began on Sept 22, with more than 400 varieties and more than 100,000 pots of chrysanthemums having been exhibited. The free potted chrysanthemums were all used during the exhibition.
A number of the chrysanthemums were reserved for visiting mothers. The botanical gardens selected 100,000 pots and more than 200 high quality varieties suitable for family farming. Several varieties were imported from the Netherlands and Japan.
The event will raise environmental awareness and increase enthusiasm among those participating in the chrysanthemum exhibition.
