The first stage in the revamping of a jogging lane that stretches five kilometers along Jinxiu Road, beside Century Park in Shanghai's Pudong New District, is expected to be completed before the upcoming lunar New Year.

Century Park is Shanghai's largest eco-park and one of the most popular areas for outdoor exercise in the city. The jogging path was first built three years ago and the current work seeks to improve the facility by adding a lane, making three bridges runner-friendly, and generally improving the greenery around the path.

The park department will also install lighting and camera monitoring systems to make running along the path a safer and more enjoyable experience.

The second stage of the project is expected to be completed before the end of 2017 and the redevelopment project aims to connect Pudong's public green spaces and offer local citizens an enjoyable environment for exercise.
