The Shanghai restaurant has been fitted with electronic service machines and menus to create an engaging and modern experience. Free WiFi and mobile payment options are available for the convenience of customers.

Taco Bell, a subsidiary of Yum Brands Inc, now has more than 7,000 restaurants, including 300 overseas spread across 26 countries and regions around the globe. It plans to increase the number of its overseas restaurants to 1,000 by 2022.

Expansion into China is a major part of the company's development strategy. Following its unsuccessful attempt to build a network of franchises in 2003, Taco Bell has returned and Brian Niccol, chief executive officer of Taco Bell Corp is very excited about the prospect.

"The opening of this Taco Bell restaurant in China is an exciting milestone for the brand as this market holds tremendous growth potential."
