Kobitos, a quirky collection of cartoon images believed to possess miraculous healing powers, are something of a craze in Japan.
They first gained public attention in 2006 following the publication of The Illustrated Book of Kobitos. The children's book aims to teach youngsters about mankind's relationship with the natural world and also allow the imagination to roam wild.
This exhibition dedicated to these cute yet boggling green things certainly has something for everyone. It consists of nine display areas: a gallery showcasing original Kobitos drafts, an area exhibiting 60 Kobitos handmade sculptures, an ecological farm for fans to wander, a multimedia interaction area employing augmented reality, and a Kobitos-themed canteen.
Date: July 8 – Sept 8
Address: 94th Fl, Shanghai World Financial Center, 100 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
