SKF, a leading bearings manufacturer, signed an agreement with Shanghai's Jiading district on Jan 12 to establish its green intelligent technological project in the district.

According to the agreement, SKF will invest and establish a new entity in Jiading Industrial Zone to build a green and intelligent technology center, a brand new research and comprehensive engineering service center, a solution center focused on carbon neutrality, and a development center for the intelligent manufacturing industry.

Established in 1907 in Sweden, SKF provides products and total solutions related to rotating shafts, including bearings, seals, lubricants, artificial intelligence and condition monitoring.

SKF entered the China market in 1912 and is involved in over 40 fields such as automobiles, railways, aviation, new energy, heavy industry, machinery, logistics, and healthcare.

The establishment of SKF's green intelligent technological project in the district is expected to help energize the district to build a world-class automobile industrial center, said Gao Xiang, head of the district.

In addition to SKF's project, Jiading district will bolster its efforts to attract more projects and investments in sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
