A lecture on classical music was staged at Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co in Jiading district on June 18, local media reported.

The lecture, along with music performances, is the result of joint efforts from Shanghai Poly Grand Theater and Jiading Culture, Radio Broadcasting, Film and Television Administration, to provide local workers and residents a taste of classical art.

The event attracted many locals, including classical music lovers and those dabbling in the arts for the first time.

"The performers are very good and gave a unique interpretation to the music, making it more accessible to everyday people," said Huang, a local resident. He also hoped for there to be more activities in the future of a similar nature.

Organizers said that the aim of the event was to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of locals by providing them with access to various art forms.

Shanghai Poly Grand Theater has been dedicated to public-interest activities since it opened in 2014, helping to set up a platform for people to understand and appreciate the arts. More public-interest events will be launched to give locals greater opportunities to enjoy classical art.
