A grand artistic lantern show is being staged at the Tashan Mountain Scenic Area in Yantai, East China's Shandong province to welcome the upcoming Lantern Festival.

This year's lantern show blends modern lighting technology, special effects and distinctive colors to create a dreamy scene and will offer visitors a great new visual entertainment.

Visitors will also be treated to some national intangible culture heritages like Haicheng yangko dances which were performed at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Lantern Festival is one of China's traditional festivals celebrated with traditions like lantern fairs and guessing lantern-riddles.

Usually the lanterns are of varied colors and intricate designs, sometimes in shapes of animals, which are extremely popular among children.

Lantern Festival this year falls on March 2, which is the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
