Major archaeological discoveries have been made in an archaeological site in Huangshanya village, Zibo, Shandong province, recently.

In a 48,800-square-meter excavation site, an archaeological team led by the Archaeological Institute of Shandong Province discovered a tomb from the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and some kilns that are believed to belong to Longshan civilization, which dates back to late Neolithic period, about 4,000 years ago.

Wang Zimeng, head of the team, said, "The archaeological findings show us what lives our ancestors lived thousands of years ago and also help us find out true state of historical development and civilizational levels."

Shandong established a center for the restoration and preservation of cultural relics and a research center for underwater archaeology in 2015, giving full support to archaeological work and excavations.
