Stir-fried Water Chestnut with Lotus Root in Zhouzhuang
Zhouzhuang people use water chestnuts and lotus roots (two of eight seasonal plants in water) in autumn to cook a unique seasonal dish for treating guests. The dish is elaborately cooked with flavorings. Refreshing water chestnuts in gold ingot shapes and lotus roots with small apertures in the shape of a coin imply luck and fortune.
