Maonan: Fire shadow and stone spirit
From nearly 600 years of recorded history, Guizhou's Maonan people went through a tortuous path towards development. After migration and ups and downs, the Maonan communicated and developed with other peoples, thus becoming a member of the Chinese nation with an open mind towards ancient people. Throughout history, Guizhou's karst region, where Guizhou's Maonan lived, constantly changed, progressively integrating into a multi-ethnic life pattern to become a new fertile soil of national solidarity, cooperation and common progress.
