Guizhou is a multi-racial and multi-cultural province. The Han ethnic group is the most popular among the 18 native peoples in Guizhou, accounting for three-fifths of its total population.

Guizhou's famous historian, Shi Jizhong, is the author of the book. He wrote that Han culture spread widely in Guizhou thanks to influences from history, geography, ethnicity and society. Han culture in Guizhou has also influenced minority cultures and multiple regional cultures. The Guizhou Han dialect is different from the six other major dialects, which belongs to the North Chinese dialect.
