V. Basic Situation of the Judicial Authentication Industry
By the end of November 2016, the national judicial administration authorities examined and approved the registration of 4,872 judicial authentication institutions, 2,582 of which engaged in four major types of judicial authentication, namely forensic authentication, authentication of physical evidences, authentication of audio and visual materials, or authentication of environmental damage, accounting for 53% of all judicial authentication institutions. Among all the institutions falling into these four categories, 64.4% were initiated by health, education and scientific research institutions, and 40.5% had more than 10 practicing authenticators. Among the 54,198 authenticators, 6 are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 261 people receive the Special Allowance of the State Council. In terms of their education background, 14.95% have a master's or higher degree, 53.04% are associate professor or above; 29,763, or 54.9% engaged in the four major categories of authentication, among which 16.84% have a master's or higher degree and 63.63% are associate professor or above. In 2016, more than 2.13 million authentication cases were completed, maintaining the growing trend since the breakthrough of 2 million since 2015. From 2005 to the end of November 2016, more than 1,500 authentication cases have been completed.
