Chinese photovoltaic exporters are not dumping products in Europe and the EU Commission's accusation is unfair, the spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU said on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the EU announced 11.8 percent provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of solar panels, cells and wafers from China following a nine-month investigation.

"We don't believe that Chinese photovoltaic exporters are dumping products in the EU market. The imposition of any punitive tariffs is unacceptable," the mission's announcement said.

It also mentioned that the abuse of trade remedy measures equals trade protectionism, which runs counter to EU championing free trade and breaches its G20 commitment.

China has launched an investigation of EU wine imports, a day after the bloc announced duties on Chinese solar products.

The mission said China alone cannot settle the photovoltaic dispute. The key to a proper settlement lies in the hands of both sides.

"We hope the EU could further exert sincerity and flexibility, and work with China to find a reasonable solution acceptable to both at an early date," said the spokesperson.
