In 1945, Chiang Kai-shek refused the suggestions by the Communist Party of China and other political parties to hold a meeting of political parties to set up a coalition government, resulting in tension between the KMT and the CPC. For the peace between the two parties, Huang Yanpei, Zuo Shunsheng, Zhang Bojun and Leng Yu, among others, visited Yan'an on July 1, 1945.
