BEIJING - The Chinese government provided emergency humanitarian aid worth 30 million yuan ($4.7 million) to Pakistan to help with relief efforts in its flood-ravaged southern regions, the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday.

"The move showed the Chinese government and people's traditional friendship with the government and people of Pakistan, " the ministry said in a brief statement on its website.

As per Pakistan's request, the Chinese government will prepare 7,000 water-proof tents to ship to Pakistan soon, said the ministry.
