TALLINN -- Estonia hopes to strengthen cultural  exchanges with China's Tibet, the country's senior senator Peeter Kreitzberg said Tuesday when meeting a Tibetan delegation from China.

The delegation of Tibetologists and Living Buddhas arrived here earlier in the day.

The senator said Estonian people are eager to know the history and culture of Tibet, and the visit of the delegation provides them with a precious opportunity to gain some knowledge about Tibet.

He said the Chinese government has been working hard to protect Tibetan culture and he hoped he could have the chance to visit Tibet in the future.

The delegation, headed by Changngopa Tseyang, vice-president of Tibet University, visited Tallinn University and gave speeches there before heading to Estonia's parliament.

The delegation briefed Estonia's lawmakers on Tibetan history, culture, language and religion.

The delegation also held a Tibet photo exhibition in the parliament building, which was well received by the audience.
