Food safety at foreign fast-food giants under fire

@Caikun

I feel that negative news may have had a fatal effect on enterprises of this kind. Their products are not necessities, so their customer group is susceptible to bad news reports.Once the customer group gets smaller unexpectedly, their cash flow may be impacted.

I still believe that their hygienic situation is better than that of most small restaurants along the streets.

@Liyongtao 2000

It is dishonest to use ambiguous words to confuse consumers. I assume that they dare not deceive customers in the US and Japan. The Chinese worship of foreign goods gives the fast-food chains a chance to deceive the Chinese. [Full opinions]

Food safety a permanent affair @Lilian, via e-mail

I don't agree that the relevant officials are serious about food safety. Had they been so, food scandals would not have occurred so often. Their supervision of food-producing companies has been found lacking. I think food safety supervision should be a permanent and strict affair, rather than a one-time campaign to prevent food scandals. [Full opinion]

Time to get tough on food fraud @Two-Pronged Fight

They know full well they are not likely to be caught; and even if they are caught at some stage, the profits they have made would be enough to pay the fines many times over.

The government should take a hard look at how their food enforcement departments work. Everyone down the line from the top to the bottom must be held accountable. [Full opinion]
