The rescue of two people from the rubble of a collapsed multi-story building in Nairobi's Eastleigh estate, more than 27 hours after the structure came down, has renewed hope for families anxiously awaiting news of their missing relatives.

The number of people officially reported missing has dropped to five from seven, according to the latest figures following the rescue.

The multi-agency rescue team continued excavation work on Sunday, concentrating on reaching the lower levels of the building, where several people were feared trapped beneath the debris.
