CONAKRY -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship Auspicious Ark left Guinea on Saturday after completing a friendly visit and medical mission as part of Mission Harmony-2026.

A farewell ceremony was held at the Port of Conakry. Guinean military and government officials, the Chinese ambassador to Guinea, the defense attache and embassy staff, local residents, and representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese enterprises attended the send-off.

The hospital ship arrived in Conakry, the Guinean capital, on Oct 3. During the visit, it provided medical services to local residents and successfully performed multiple surgeries, including cataract operations to restore sight and the removal of large lipomas.

In addition to treating patients aboard the ship, the mission dispatched a medical training team to the China-Guinea Friendship Hospital for academic exchanges and a medical outreach team to a military camp to provide medical consultations and treatment.

Chinese and Guinean service members also held a friendly basketball match, further strengthening exchanges between the two sides.

Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah visited the hospital ship and attended a reception on its deck. He expressed gratitude for the Chinese naval hospital ship's visit and voiced hope for greater cooperation between the two sides in more areas in the future.

Guinean ministers of defense and foreign affairs, along with other senior military and government officials, also boarded the ship to attend related activities.
