An exhibition of Asia's largest fin whale skeleton opened on Thursday at Shanghai Pudong Airport's Terminal 2, marking a new effort in the city's bid to become a globally renowned city of museums, according to the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd.
The specimen, measuring about 24 meters long and weighing around 3 tons, was assembled from over 200 bones. The fin whale was stranded and died in the waters near Shanghai in March 2017 and the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum spent four years turning it into an exhibit, which is regarded as the crown jewel of its collection.
