"Changes in China's perfume‑fragrance sector do not occur in isolation. We need to view perfume within a broader consumption landscape," Chole Lam, CEO of Eternal Group, said.

"Competition in the olfactory ecosystem essentially shifts from mere scent‑sensing to building long‑term sensory bonds between people and aromas."

Beyond basic functions such as adornment and odor removal, fragrance is increasingly tied to emotion regulation, home atmosphere creation, and self-expression across daily scenarios, the white paper further pointed out, identifying profound shifts in domestic consumption logic.
