Six killed, three injured in Haikou restaurant fire

Six people were killed and three others injured in a fire at a restaurant undergoing renovation in Haikou, Hainan province, on Thursday, according to local authorities.
The fire broke out at Yexiangyuan Restaurant on the east side of Xiuying Avenue, according to Haikou's fire and rescue bureau. The city's fire and rescue command center received an emergency call at 2:45 pm and dispatched crews to the scene.
The flames were extinguished at 3:23 pm. Rescue teams have since completed three rounds of searches at the site.
The three injured people are in stable condition, authorities said in a statement.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
