HONG KONG -- The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) announced on Tuesday that initial findings from a study on its self-developed AI platform showed it significantly enhanced students' self-directed learning and academic performance.

According to the findings, the platform, called EASE, achieved these positive outcomes through personalized practice and assessment tailored to students' individual needs.

Since June 2025, 2,200 local primary and secondary students have participated in a pilot study of EASE conducted by EdUHK.

Centered on mathematics education, the platform creates personalized learning pathways with real-time feedback, automated marking, error analysis, and learning reports. It aids teaching decisions while cultivating habits of proactive error correction and self-directed learning.

Yan Zi, head of EdUHK's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, said that through a design grounded in educational theory, EASE fostered self-directed learning, positioning AI as a supportive assistant to students, with its deeper value lying in cultivating habits of continuous learning and error correction.
