AI empowerment training program boosts Sino-Uzbek educational cooperation
The first session of the AI training program for Uzbek educators, jointly organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and New Uzbekistan University, concluded in Guangzhou on Aug 21.
The first cohort of over 50 primary and secondary school teachers completed a week-long training, with a second cohort of university instructors set to follow.
Built on an AI-literacy curriculum jointly developed by a team of professors led by Professor Chen Lei, dean of the Information Hub, the program was customized for Uzbek teachers with optimizations adapted to primary and secondary school teaching scenarios. It helped participants systematically master innovative AI applications in teaching-research activities and school administration.
The training marks the latest practical achievement in China-Uzbekistan educational cooperation. Since HKUST(GZ) President Lionel Ni visited New Uzbekistan University and signed a memorandum of understanding in September, the two universities have yielded initial outcomes in areas such as student exchanges, high-level talent development and strategic discussions.
